Alamar Biosciences is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Finance and Accounting team in Fremont, California. The company develops innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples for early disease detection using highly multiplexed assays.
In this role, you will own key components of the monthly and quarterly close process, working closely with the Senior Accounting Manager and broader finance team. You will prepare and review account reconciliations, support global consolidation and intercompany accounting, and help maintain a strong internal control environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own accounting and reporting for designated holding companies and legal entities, including monthly journal entries, bank reconciliations, and compliance reporting
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual closes
- Support global consolidation activities, including intercompany transactions, eliminations, and foreign-currency accounting
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations
- Support sales and use tax reporting through Avalara
- Support financial statement preparation, quarterly roll-forwards, and public-company reporting activities
- Coordinate with external auditors and support SOX compliance activities
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Operations, Procurement, Payroll, and Tax to improve accounting accuracy
- Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen controls and support Finance scalability
- Document accounting procedures and internal control activities
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with CPA certification or active progress toward CPA. Five or more years of progressive accounting experience with substantive responsibility for close activities. Manufacturing, biotechnology, life sciences, or medical technology industry experience required. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, proficiency with Microsoft Office (advanced Excel), and experience with NetSuite or comparable ERP systems. Experience supporting external audits, internal controls, global consolidations, intercompany accounting, and foreign-currency transactions. Preferred: experience with Avalara, Workday, ERP implementations, or accounting process improvements.
