Salary: CAD 218,420 - 273,360 / annual
Tailscale is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to join its distributed security team. The role focuses on protecting Tailscale's infrastructure and supporting the company's security posture across a fully remote organization.
Key responsibilities include managing device security across macOS, Linux, and Windows platforms; implementing and maintaining Mobile Device Management (MDM) policies and BYOD programs; managing patch and vulnerability workflows; supporting critical platforms including Google Workspace, Jira, and GitHub; designing and automating security processes such as self-service access provisioning and patch deployment; implementing and managing identity and access controls (OIDC, SAML, SCIM); and contributing to data loss prevention strategies. You will also participate in technology stack decisions in coordination with engineering leadership to ensure alignment with company-wide IT standards.
The ideal candidate brings prior experience in security operations, identity and access management, endpoint security, data loss prevention, SOC operations, or IT engineering/operations. Required technical knowledge includes operating systems and security mechanisms, common networking protocols, authentication and user management protocols (OIDC, SAML, SCIM), and Google Workspace security and device management. Hands-on experience with MDM products such as Jamf, Kandji, Fleet, or Intune is essential. You should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively in an asynchronous, distributed environment, able to think on your feet, and adaptable to startup dynamics.
Nice-to-have skills include Jira workflow automation, application or infrastructure security experience, and scripting proficiency in Go, Python, or bash. Tailscale values constructive feedback, diverse perspectives, and authentic collaboration.
