As a Security Engineering Manager, you will lead a cross-functional security team responsible for designing and implementing best-in-class security solutions across Thought Machine's cloud-native banking platform. You'll manage talented engineers working on greenfield projects, balancing hands-on technical contribution with people leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and delivering the security engineering roadmap in collaboration with your team
- Actively participating in technical discussions, design reviews, and code reviews
- Measuring team impact and contributing to product strategy
- Developing engineers on your team and supporting their career growth
- Collaborating across engineering and product teams with trust and influence
- Contributing to engineering-wide initiatives including recruitment and process improvement
- Leading by example through hands-on technical work alongside management duties
The security team covers defining secure service architectures, designing secure platforms, engineering unique solutions and tooling, and implementing cutting-edge security capabilities. You'll work with modern technology stacks including AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, and languages like Go and Python.

Requirements:
Essential: 2+ years engineering management experience leading product-aligned teams; strong technical background in security for modern stacks (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Go/Python); excellent interpersonal skills to work with Product Managers and stakeholders; comfort with evolving management responsibilities as team needs change.
Desirable: Experience defining roadmaps and technical architecture; risk management and company objectives balancing; familiarity with security frameworks (CSA-CCM, OWASP SAMM, cloud/infrastructure/application security); building and operating security for distributed systems at scale; recruiting and shaping engineering teams; defining and evaluating team processes; contributions to security community (research, blogging, presentations).
