Veeam is seeking a Security Engineer III to own detection and response across the company's cloud estate on Microsoft Azure and AWS. This role sits within Platform Security and spans the full lifecycle of cloud security: designing and building the security data lake that ingests telemetry from Azure, AWS, SaaS, and endpoint sources; writing and tuning detections as code with full CI/CD integration; automating response, triage, and enrichment workflows; and hardening cloud environments through identity, RBAC, network controls, and secret management. Key responsibilities include designing the security data lake architecture (what telemetry to ingest, how to normalize and retain it, cost optimization); writing, testing, and retiring detections using KQL and Sigma patterns with Git-based review; building automated response mechanisms and runbooks to reduce mean-time-to-detect and mean-time-to-respond; hands-on hardening of Azure and AWS environments across multiple tenants and accounts; delivering cloud security controls as Terraform modules to ensure fixes persist across all environments; turning cloud security posture findings into a prioritized remediation queue; running detection coverage assessments against recognized threat frameworks; and setting direction on detection and security tooling strategy. You'll work with Microsoft Sentinel, Log Analytics, Azure Defender for Cloud, Entra ID, AWS CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Wiz, Python, and detection-as-code patterns. You'll partner closely with SRE, Product Engineering, and Security Engineering teams. The role emphasizes shipped mechanisms and measurable outcomes over advisory work.
