Salary: USD 161,500 - 218,500 / annual
Mapbox is seeking a Senior Cloud Security Engineer to join its Security & Compliance team. This role focuses on building secure-by-default systems across Mapbox's AWS-native, container-based cloud deployment spanning 7 global regions.
Key responsibilities include conducting deep-dive AWS security reviews to validate best practices, making security improvement recommendations to production support teams, and partnering with the Lead Security Architect to fix custom-built security tools. You'll conduct in-depth security reviews of application code, working closely with developers to embed secure coding practices from the outset, and partner with internal product teams to implement secure-by-default design principles.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, 5+ years of experience in product or application security and related software engineering roles. You should have hands-on experience with AWS services including GuardDuty, CloudTrail, IAM, Security Groups, CloudFront, CloudFormation, S3, ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and RDS. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Node.js, or TypeScript is essential, along with strong testing practices and documentation skills.
