Anthropic is seeking a Security Engineer specializing in Detection & Response to build and lead cybersecurity incident response capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of security operations and software engineering, requiring someone who can develop novel detection tooling, investigate incidents across Anthropic's full technology stack, and coordinate response efforts with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include leading incident response efforts covering external attacks and insider threats, developing and deploying detection tooling (potentially leveraging large language models), creating and optimizing detections and playbooks, reviewing IR metrics to drive continuous improvement, and collaborating with security and engineering teams. The role includes on-call rotation participation.
Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of software engineering experience with security background, or 5+ years of detection engineering, incident response, or threat hunting. Required skills include solid understanding of cloud environments and SaaS operations, experience with EDR/SIEM/SOAR tools, and strong communication abilities. Preferred qualifications include Kubernetes security operations experience, Python and SQL proficiency, attack behavior analysis, threat intelligence, malware analysis, infrastructure-as-code, or forensics experience.
This is a hybrid role with expectation of at least 25% office time, though some roles may require more. Anthropic sponsors visas and encourages applications from candidates who may not meet every qualification.
