ERGO NEXT is a technology-led, full-stack insurance provider for small businesses, backed by industry leaders in insurance and tech. Since 2016, the company has served hundreds of thousands of small business customers across the United States with fast, customized, and affordable coverage. The company is seeking a senior Cloud Security Engineer to own critical aspects of its AWS and Kubernetes security posture. This is a hands-on technical role focused on building and improving security capabilities across cloud infrastructure, from IAM and network controls to runtime protection. Key responsibilities include: - Building and improving security capabilities across AWS and Kubernetes environments - Developing automation, guardrails, and controls that enable engineering teams to operate securely at scale - Owning and operating security tools and services, including integrations, monitoring, and improvements - Identifying security gaps and translating them into practical engineering solutions - Embedding security controls into CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and engineering workflows - Investigating and resolving cloud and application security issues - Partnering with Platform Engineering and product teams on secure architecture and implementation - Improving security visibility, monitoring, and detection across the environment - Contributing to security initiatives across cloud, product, workforce, and emerging technologies such as AI Required qualifications: - Strong hands-on experience in security engineering or cloud security - Practical experience with AWS (IAM, networking, logging, cloud-native services) - Good understanding of Kubernetes, containers, and modern cloud-native architectures - Hands-on experience with AI/LLM security, AI-assisted development environments, or agentic systems - Experience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tools (Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar) - Solid understanding of networking and core security principles - Ability to investigate technical problems, understand underlying risk, and build practical solutions - Strong ownership mindset and commitment to continuous learning Nice-to-have skills include experience with CSPM/CNAPP platforms (e.g., Wiz), Python/Go scripting, and application security.
