Evervault is hiring its first dedicated Security Engineer to join the platform group in London. The company builds modular card payment infrastructure that helps developers keep raw card data off their systems, reduce PCI compliance burden, and improve payment acceptance and fraud outcomes. Customers include Rippling, Ramp, and Sorare. The company is Series B backed by Index Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Kleiner Perkins.
You will own application security from day one, with scope to expand responsibility across the entire organization over time. In your first year, expect roughly half your time on hands-on security engineering and half on audits, questionnaires, and customer security reviews—both are core to the role.
Key responsibilities include:
- Finding and fixing vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure
- Building security checks and tooling into the development and deployment pipeline
- Collaborating with engineers on security decisions in product and system design
- Owning security and compliance audits, including evidence collection and resolving findings
- Handling customer security reviews and questionnaires, explaining controls clearly
- Establishing security practices through code, risk identification, and team adoption
The team works primarily in Rust and Node.js on AWS, with Terraform and some Go. Engineering ability matters more than familiarity with every part of the stack.
This is an individual contributor role with ownership and close collaboration within the platform team. No immediate people-management responsibilities. You'll work from the Shoreditch office Tuesday to Thursday.

- Excellent engineer with deep, practical security expertise
- Comfortable writing production code, investigating unfamiliar systems, and taking fixes through to completion
- Strong engineering skills and hands-on experience with PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) are essential
- Experience in card payments, particularly running or securing a cardholder data environment, is a strong signal
- Track record of taking audits through to resolution and working at a product company before Series C
- Experience as a first or sole security engineer is valuable
- Daily AI usage and actively seeking ways to improve work with AI
- Comfortable making progress on loosely defined problems and taking responsibility for results
- Mid-level or senior engineer welcome
