Synthesia, the world's leading AI video platform used by 90% of the Fortune 100, is seeking a Staff-level Security Engineer to expand its Security Operations team. You will report to the Head of Security and own deeply technical security improvements across Synthesia's cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD), shipping production changes directly when needed.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing detection and response capabilities (SIEM, EDR/MDR, cloud-native detections, CNAPP) with a focus on automation and measurable outcomes. You will hunt, investigate, and respond to security alerts end-to-end—from triage through recovery—and build internal security tooling and automations (IaC, scripts, integrations) that reduce toil and raise the security baseline.
You bring 5+ years of hands-on security engineering experience, ideally in a cloud-first SaaS environment at a fast-growing startup or scale-up. You are deeply technical with a builder/hacker mindset, comfortable implementing changes directly in cloud infrastructure and DevOps systems.
Required expertise includes cloud security engineering (AWS/GCP IAM, networking, compute, storage, logging), Kubernetes security (cluster hardening, workload isolation, runtime security, policy controls), DevOps fundamentals (CI/CD security, secrets management, artifact integrity), incident response and playbook automation, and strong programming/scripting ability (Python or similar) plus infrastructure-as-code (Terraform). You have serious agent coding experience and are on the bleeding edge of the space. Endpoint security tooling experience (e.g., CrowdStrike) is expected.
Bonus qualifications include hands-on experience with Hunters, Wiz, Falcon, Tracebit, Torii, Okta, Google Workspace, StrongDM, Github, StepSecurity, or Dope Security, plus relevant certifications (AWS Certified Security, GIAC GWEB, OSCP, CSSLP).
