Salary: USD 163,000 - 263,670 / annual
LaunchDarkly is seeking an SDK Software Engineer to join the AI Configs team, which is building tools to manage the complete software development lifecycle for GenAI features. In this role, you'll develop feature-rich SDKs that serve as the primary touchpoint for customers to control, monitor, and optimize their generative AI functionality.
You'll primarily work in Python and TypeScript, contributing to open-source SDKs that emphasize performance, concurrency, resiliency, and idiomatic language practices. This is not thin wrapper work—LaunchDarkly's SDKs are sophisticated agents with strong architectural foundations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and maintaining open-source AI SDKs with new features and modern development practices
- Collaborating with engineering and product teams on major feature implementation and releases
- Driving improvements to developer experience within the SDK
- Actively maintaining open-source repositories
- Identifying improvement areas and advocating for best practices
- Shaping technology and product decisions
Required qualifications:
- 8+ years of professional experience with Python and TypeScript
- Demonstrable experience building libraries and packages used by other developers
- Experience with AI SDKs (OpenAI, Vercel AI, or similar)
- Strong computer science fundamentals
- Production-ready code quality with emphasis on maintainability
- Strong testing background: unit, integration, load tests, and benchmarks
- Open-source software contribution experience
- Self-starter mentality and collaborative communication skills
