Salary: CAD 90,000 - 114,000 / annual
Aspect Biosystems is seeking a Scientist to join the Immunoengineering team in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Technical Director, you will develop vascularization strategies for bioengineered cellular medicines—a core component of the company's full-stack tissue therapeutic platform that combines AI-powered bioprinting, therapeutic cells, hypoimmune cell engineering, and advanced biomaterials.
Key responsibilities include designing and executing complex in vitro and ex vivo vascularization studies to characterize vascular cell behavior, neovascularization, and therapeutic function in response to bioprinted tissues. You will conduct and optimize relevant assays including in vitro vascular formation in 2D and 3D, flow cytometry, imaging, immunostaining, multiplex cytokine analysis, vascular cell isolation and culture, and cytotoxicity assays. Your work will support the development of tissue therapeutics with optimized vascularization and long-term performance.
You will analyze and interpret datasets, working closely with computational biology and data science teams to extract meaningful conclusions. You'll provide hands-on technical contributions to integrating vascularization insights into product design, including assessment of biomaterial formulations, cell selection, and delivery strategies. Additional responsibilities include maintaining detailed experimental records, contributing to SOPs and study reports, presenting findings to cross-functional teams, and supporting regulatory and IP-related deliverables.
Required qualifications: PhD in regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, or related discipline with 0–3 years of relevant biotech/pharma R&D experience (or Master's degree with 5+ years experience). Strong hands-on experience in vascular cell research, bioprinting, and vascular regeneration. Proficiency in bioassays, flow cytometry, immunostaining, and confocal imaging, with solid background in analyzing host immune and foreign body responses to implanted biomaterials. You are intellectually curious, a problem-solver who thinks outside the box, detail-oriented, and meticulously organized with strong multitasking and deadline management skills.
