BigHat Biosciences is seeking a hands-on, bench-driven Scientist II to lead antibody developability assessments for the Milliner Platform, an AI-designed therapeutics platform. This is a primarily lab-based role where you'll spend most of your time at the bench executing and innovating on developability workflows.
Key responsibilities include: designing, optimizing, and executing high-throughput developability assays to expand BigHat's analytical toolkit; driving developability assessments (purity, stability, tolerability, biophysical properties) across programs with strong data interpretation and organization; supporting late-stage characterization and IND-enabling studies including formulation screening, stress testing, peptide mapping, and simulated administration studies to rank and advance lead candidates; serving as the developability lead within project teams to guide experimental strategy and address liabilities; working cross-functionally to automate workflows, train colleagues on new methods, build QC frameworks for assay performance monitoring, and adapt processes to existing LIMS infrastructure; and independently analyzing data, interpreting findings, proposing next steps, and communicating results across the organization.
Required qualifications: PhD in Biochemistry or relevant discipline with 3+ years of industry experience (exceptional non-PhD candidates with deep bench experience will be considered); strong background in biophysical and analytical characterization of antibodies and antibody fragments including SEC, HIC, CE-SDS, DLS, DSF, ELISA, LC-MS with method development and optimization experience; track record of translating complex data into clear results and recommended actions; experience with protein structures and antibody engineering; enthusiasm for learning and onboarding new technologies to expand capabilities and improve work quality, timelines, throughput, or cost.
Nice-to-haves: prior experience in dynamic start-up environments, project leadership, and automation.
