Salary: USD 134,700 - 172,700 / annual

Altos Labs is seeking a Scientist I in Disease Biology to join the Discovery Science team. The role focuses on using functional genomics to unravel cellular rejuvenation biology and restore cell health and resilience. You will develop physiologically relevant in vitro and ex vivo disease models, integrate these with in vivo studies, and identify interventions that reverse disease-associated cell states. Key responsibilities include designing and executing research strategies to identify causal regulators of cell state, aging, regeneration, and disease biology. You will develop, benchmark, and validate disease cell models of age-related and disease-associated states, then scale assays to screen candidate interventions across multiple cell models. The role requires designing and conducting in vivo studies to evaluate candidate interventions, elucidating mechanisms of action for promising interventions, and supporting internal and external collaborations across multidisciplinary projects. You will collaborate closely with other scientists and cross-functional teams to integrate multidimensional datasets and generate actionable biological insights, while contributing to the writing and dissemination of research results. Minimum qualifications include a PhD in Biology, Cell Biology, Physiology, or related field with 0-3 years of post-PhD experience. You must have a proven track record elucidating complex age-associated disease mechanisms (kidney, lung, liver, skin indications), hands-on experience developing and validating cell-based disease assays, and strong experience with rodent in vivo disease assays. Excellent writing and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work effectively in dynamic team environments are essential. Preferred qualifications include background in aging biology, regeneration, fibrosis, inflammation, metabolic disease, or neurodegeneration; experience dissecting mechanisms of action for candidate interventions; expertise in high-throughput screening and functional genomics; direct experience with chronic disease models; and computational biology/bioinformatics skills.
