Salary: USD 123,100 - 166,500 / annual
10x Genomics is seeking a Scientist 1 in Process Chemistry to join the Process Development team and support the development and commercial launch of new products. You will work cross-functionally with Chemistry, Microfluidics, Custom Plastic Consumables, Assay Development, and Production teams to develop, optimize, validate, and transfer new chemistries and processes required to produce 10x reagents and consumables.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop deep understanding of the interplay between chemistry, microfluidics, production processes, and molecular biology to identify root causes of product deviations and implement solutions
- Plan and execute experiments with accurate record-keeping, in-depth data analysis, and clear communication of results through documentation and presentations
- Write protocols, develop procedures, and maintain accurate records
- Communicate and present results clearly to support critical design decisions
- Troubleshoot process issues and identify scalable solutions
- Contribute to process validation and transfer to manufacturing or OEM vendors
The role may require approximately 10% international travel. You will be expected to be a self-starter, strategic thinker, action-driven, flexible, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and communicating effectively across all organizational levels.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
- 0-3 years of industry experience
- Ability to integrate a broad range of scientific and engineering disciplines
- Ability to design meaningful experiments and conduct in-depth analysis of results
- Experience using statistical tools for process control
- Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate experimental design, results, and plans through presentations and reports
- Understanding of physical chemistry principles to scale up chemical manufacturing processes
- Ability to develop, validate, and transfer processes to manufacturing or OEM vendors
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization with compelling technology
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with automation equipment or custom instrumentation
- Experience developing plastic consumables for microbiology applications, particularly microfluidic devices
- Proficiency in statistical analysis for process control and design of experiments
