ONI is seeking a Scientific Imaging / Machine Learning Engineer to join their Oxford-based team. The company develops the Nanoimager, a revolutionary super-resolution microscopy platform that enables scientists to visualize and analyze cellular and molecular-level details for research, drug development, and diagnostics.
In this role, you will build software solutions automating super-resolution microscopy acquisition and image analysis, enabling non-expert scientists to gain rapid insights. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing high-performance C++ applications for image processing and machine learning, devising innovative solutions for nano-scale microscopy challenges, debugging hardware/software integration issues, and collaborating across hardware, firmware, product, and bioware teams.
You will contribute to enterprise-scale software solutions, write well-documented and testable code, and work within an Agile/SCRUM environment. The role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, critical thinking, transparency, and a continuous improvement mindset.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field; minimum 3 years developing image processing algorithms/applications as a Software Engineer; proficiency in modern C++ (C++14/17/20) and low-level programming; Agile/SCRUM experience.
Desired qualifications include a Master's degree, Python expertise, machine learning pipeline experience, embedded software/hardware-software integration experience, and microscopy/scientific software development background.
