Muon Space is seeking a Satellite Operations Platform Manager to serve as the bridge between spacecraft in orbit, the Satellite Operations team, and broader engineering and business teams. You will be responsible for turning customer contracts into operational reality by ensuring satellites are successfully commissioned, transitioned to nominal operations, and scaled to meet a rapidly growing constellation.
This role sits at the intersection of engineering execution and operational strategy. You will coordinate across multiple subsystems—Flight Software, Ground Software, Thermal, Electrical, Systems, GNC, and Business Development—to ensure satellites meet contractual obligations while preparing the Satellite Operations team for rapid fleet expansion.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead cross-functional teams supporting commissioning activities and anomaly reviews, providing regular progress updates to management
- Monitor operational performance against contractual requirements and coordinate cross-team support to address performance shortfalls
- Ensure Satellite Operations' systems and processes are scalable and support anticipated fleet expansion and contractual requirements
- Provide periodic updates to management on commissioning progress and operational performance against contractual commitments
- Support customer meetings to provide updates on anomaly investigations and track issues to closure
You will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where you can thrive in ambiguity and create structure and process where none exists. This position requires access to export-controlled information and ITAR/EAR compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS (Required):
- 5+ years of experience in satellite operations or a related high-reliability system environment (aerospace, defense)
- Working knowledge of satellite subsystem and supporting ground system functionality
- Experience solving complex problems that span multiple systems
- Experience creating operational processes to address both technical and customer needs
- Engineering background in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Science
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and create structure/process where none exists
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:
- Demonstrated experience with satellite command and control systems, telemetry analysis, and mission planning
- Direct experience with on-orbit satellite commissioning or mission operations
- Understanding of ITAR/EAR regulations
