Benchling is an AI platform for biotech R&D used by over 200,000 scientists globally, including major biopharma companies like Sanofi and Moderna. The Enterprise Applications team is seeking an experienced Salesforce Engineer to own and scale Benchling's Salesforce instance, which is critical to sales, customer experience, and revenue operations.
In this hands-on senior role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end Salesforce ecosystem, with deep expertise in Salesforce CPQ (product, pricing, quoting, and approval configuration). You will design and maintain integrations between Salesforce and downstream ERP and billing platforms using Workato, configure document and contract workflows with Conga, and own CI/CD and release management using Gearset.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with Sales, Professional Services, Customer Experience, Product, Engineering, Security, and TechOps teams to implement scalable solutions; evaluating and integrating technology tools with AI-assisted development; implementing best-practice Salesforce solutions including custom objects, page layouts, and APIs; and addressing architectural gaps and technical debt.
You will bring senior-level judgment to complex CPQ and billing challenges, pair strong technical depth with business acumen, and help shape how Benchling adopts emerging AI capabilities across the platform. This is a project-ownership role requiring both hands-on engineering and cross-functional stakeholder management.
Required qualifications: 5+ years Salesforce application development with hands-on CPQ expertise; experience building integrations with Workato (or similar iPaaS) and Conga (or comparable CLM/document automation); ownership of Salesforce CI/CD with Gearset or comparable DevOps tooling; Salesforce certifications (Platform App Builder, Platform Developer 1 & 2, Administrator 201); proficiency in Apex, Lightning, SOQL/SOSL, and JavaScript; working knowledge of Java, Go, or Python; experience with Salesforce APIs (SOAP, REST, BULK); and demonstrated AI fluency with hands-on use of AI development tools.
