Turnitin, a 25+ year-old global education technology company, is seeking a Sales Planning and Reporting Analyst to drive data-driven insights and strategic planning for the sales organization. This role sits at the intersection of sales operations and analytics, partnering with sales leadership and cross-functional teams to optimize performance, develop forecasts, and enable informed decision-making.
You will own multiple dimensions of sales analytics and planning:
**Sales Planning & Strategy**: Collaborate with leadership to develop sales plans aligned with organizational objectives. Assist with annual budget coordination and ongoing forecasting reviews. Analyze account segmentation and recommend adjustments to drive regional and territorial alignment.
**Data Analysis & Insights**: Analyze sales performance metrics including historical data, market trends, quotas, conversion rates, and pipeline data. Consolidate sales data from CRM systems, databases, and spreadsheets. Drive actionable insights to improve sales strategies and identify opportunities and challenges.
**Forecasting & Targets**: Partner with sales leaders to set achievable targets and quotas. Develop accurate sales forecasts using historical performance, market trends, and other relevant factors. Monitor forecast accuracy and adjust as needed.
**Reporting & Dashboards**: Define and track KPIs to evaluate sales team performance. Create and maintain reports and dashboards using tools like Tableau and Alteryx. Develop automated reporting processes for timely, accurate delivery to stakeholders. Communicate insights and performance updates to leadership through clear reports and presentations.
**Market Intelligence**: Stay current on total addressable market, industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics. Conduct competitive analysis to identify opportunities and threats. Use market insights to inform sales strategy recommendations.
**Cross-Functional Collaboration**: Partner with marketing, finance, and product operations to ensure sales strategy alignment. Provide regional pricing support and assist with sales incentive and commission administration as needed.
**Data Management & Quality**: Define data-sourcing strategy and manage integration of sales data from multiple sources. Conduct regular data audits to ensure accuracy and integrity. Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues.
**Process Improvement**: Identify inefficiencies in sales processes and recommend improvements. Support operational implementation of acquisitions and drive continuous process optimization.
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field
- 5-7+ years proven experience in sales analytics, planning, or related roles
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (Tableau, Alteryx, Excel, SQL, data visualization tools)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of sales processes, CRM systems (Salesforce strongly preferred), and sales methodologies
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to convey complex data findings clearly
- Ability to work with complex data sets to create impactful reports for data-driven decision making
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- High degree of adaptability to changing business needs and priorities
