Niantic Spatial is building the future of physical AI, powered by a proprietary database of over 30 billion posed images. The company's mapping technology and Visual Positioning System deliver geometric accuracy and precise positioning for customers in robotics, public sector, and energy/industrial markets.
You'll be the founding Sales Development Representative, reporting into Marketing. Your core mission is to introduce Niantic Spatial to organizations shaping spatial computing, autonomy, and AI. You'll respond to inbound interest, open meaningful first conversations with prospective customers and partners, and build a qualified pipeline that feeds into the broader sales process.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building early-stage pipeline by responding quickly to inbound interest, qualifying fit, and developing outbound campaigns with Marketing and Business Development to test audiences, messages, and channels.
- Creating qualified conversations through research of target accounts in oil and gas, defense, public sector, and embodied AI, building informed perspectives on each prospect's business and technical environment.
- Reaching prospects thoughtfully via email, phone, LinkedIn, events, and other channels with personalized outreach and clear reasons for engagement.
- Explaining the opportunity by learning products deeply enough to communicate them clearly to technical and executive audiences, connecting capabilities to real customer problems.
- Surfacing product-market fit signals by asking thoughtful questions about how organizations build and operate systems that understand the physical world, routing promising use cases to product, sales, and technical teams.
- Handing off cleanly by translating discovery notes into clear articulations of customer needs, proposed solutions, initial scope, and next steps, partnering with Business Development on first proposals.
- Strengthening go-to-market motion by capturing patterns from prospect conversations (pain points, objections, terminology, competitive context, use cases) and sharing insights with cross-functional teams to improve processes, data quality, and tooling.
You'll work closely with marketing, product, business development, and operations. This role sits at the intersection of research, communication, and disciplined execution—your conversations both build pipeline and provide Product with signals about product-market fit.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1–2 years in sales development, business development, customer-facing technology, fundraising, or similarly communication-intensive role, OR strong curiosity and drive early in your career
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication with ability to engage both technical and business audiences
- Comfort starting conversations with people you don't know; strong listening and follow-up questioning skills; persistence without becoming transactional or scripted
- Ownership of your own work: thoughtful follow-up processes, accurate record-keeping, organization across many accounts and conversations
- Curiosity about how technology changes organizational operations; ability to learn complex products, find business relevance, and communicate clearly
- Appetite for experimentation: test new messages/channels, learn from results, iterate
- Persistence, sound judgment, high standard for preparation and follow-through
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
NICE TO HAVE:
- Interest in AI, spatial computing, robotics, autonomy, mapping, or technologies connecting digital systems to the physical world
- Experience with CRM (HubSpot), sales engagement, research, and productivity tools
- Exposure to oil and gas, defense, public sector, or embodied AI markets
- Experience working alongside product teams or interest in how early customer conversations shape product development
