Salary: USD 100,000 - 147,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Safety Equipment Engineer III to join the Rocket Motor Systems team at the McHenry, Mississippi production facility. This role focuses on ensuring automation equipment for high-rate solid rocket motor production is designed, validated, and operated to the highest safety standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting machine safety efforts for manufacturing and process equipment at the solid rocket motor production facility
- Serving as a safety resource during design, commissioning, and validation of automated and semi-automated production equipment
- Conducting hazard analysis and risk assessments, and supporting safety buyoff for equipment including conveyance systems, robotics, process equipment, and lifting systems
- Specifying and validating safety systems such as E-Stops, scanners, light curtains, door interlocks, and other relevant hardware
- Investigating equipment safety failures and workplace injuries, providing corrective actions
- Ensuring regulatory compliance for production equipment
The role requires a strong technical foundation in machine safety standards and hands-on experience with safety hardware integration and validation. You will work closely with design and manufacturing teams to embed safety into the production automation ecosystem from inception through commissioning.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics/Controls, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar discipline
- Minimum 2+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment
- Working knowledge of selection, integration, and validation of safety hardware
- Familiarity with machine safety standards including ISO 12100, ISO 13849, and ANSI B11
- Proficiency with CAD packages such as NX, Solidworks, or AutoCAD
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years of machine safety experience in a production environment
- Functional Safety certification (TUV Rheinland, TUV SUD, or CMSE [TUV NORD]), or willingness to obtain one
- Experience with control panel layout, electrical component selection, and cable routing
- Experience interfacing with regulatory agencies and safety committees
- Experience with energetic or other highly hazardous production processes
