Apptronik is a Series B human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered humanoid robots (Apollo) for manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and beyond. The Software Integration & Test (RSIT) team is seeking a Robotics Test Engineer to write automated tests that verify Apollo's software at the integration layer, ensuring safety and quality across releases.
In this role, you will author automated integration, contract, and ICD conformance tests using pytest against software-level requirements, with clear pass/fail signals feeding the release gate. You'll partner with senior engineers on root-cause investigations for CI failures, escaped defects, and stochastic issues, building familiarity with debugging tools like sanitizers, log analysis, and MCAP playback. A key responsibility is converting defects into permanent regression tests, ensuring every escape becomes a new automated check.
You will run and maintain test suites on hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) benches, capture data, and report results into team dashboards. You'll keep existing test suites healthy by triaging flaky tests, updating fixtures as the stack evolves, and improving test code reliability and readability. You'll engage with software-level requirements and Systems Validation plans, asking clarifying questions and surfacing ambiguity to senior teammates and Systems Engineering.
As an active customer of the RSIT platform, you'll surface friction in CI, dashboards, or release tooling to improve developer experience. Cross-functional collaboration with stack engineers, firmware engineers, and senior RSIT teammates is essential to understand systems being tested and produce verification that reflects real-world behavior.
Required: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field. 2–4 years of professional software development or test engineering experience (strong internship and project experience may substitute). Working proficiency in Python, hands-on pytest or equivalent framework experience, day-to-day Linux command-line fluency, solid Git fundamentals, debugging mindset, clear communication, and learning orientation.
Preferred: ROS/ROS2 exposure, CI/CD systems experience (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions, Jenkins), hardware-in-the-loop testing familiarity, observability tools (Grafana, Loki, Prometheus), robotics/autonomous systems/aerospace background, and sanitizer tooling (ASan, TSan, UBSan) familiarity.
