Slip Robotics is seeking a Robotics Software Engineering Leader to own the entire robotics software function, including team leadership, technical architecture, and delivery. You will lead a growing team spanning autonomy and navigation, perception, firmware and motor controls, simulation, and safety-critical software. Key responsibilities include building and scaling a robotics software team across multiple specializations, setting technical direction and engineering standards, and establishing a predictable release process that balances rapid iteration with field-ready, safety-qualified releases. You will own the software architecture end-to-end, including repository structure, code ownership, review requirements, and testing strategies. A critical focus is deployment scalability: making each new customer site cheaper and faster to deploy than the last by coordinating commissioning playbooks, per-site configuration management, and ensuring navigation and perception robustness across diverse facilities. You will ensure safety-critical firmware meets functional-safety standards for mobile robots operating around people (ISO 13849, ISO 3691-4) and guide technical direction for autonomy, perception, sensor fusion, and fleet management. You will partner closely with deployment, hardware, product, and program leadership to align the software roadmap with hardware timelines and customer commitments, and support real-world customer deployments to close the loop between field failures and engineering priorities. Required: 10+ years building robotics or embedded software with 5+ years leading and scaling engineering teams. You must have deployed autonomous mobile robot systems across many distinct customer sites and owned the hardening that follows. Deep technical grounding in motion planning, controls, perception, sensor fusion, localization, real-time/embedded systems, or robot middleware (ROS). Experience with functional-safety standards for mobile robotics and building engineering standards in growing organizations. Preferred: Domain experience in freight, logistics, material handling, or warehouse automation; Robotics-as-a-Service or hardware-plus-software product models; embedded Linux on edge compute; modern AI-assisted development workflows.
