Salary: USD 240,000 - 299,000 / annual

Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize American manufacturing, combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing to help aerospace and defense companies build rockets, satellites, aircraft, ships, and mission-critical systems up to 10x faster and at significantly lower cost. The company recently closed a $1.37B Series D at a $7.87B valuation and is rapidly expanding manufacturing capabilities across welding, casting, forging, electronics, and additive manufacturing. The Autonomous Factory Systems team builds the software that enables Hadrian's factories to sense, decide, and act autonomously. This includes the core robotics stack—perception, behaviors, planning, collision avoidance, and high-level control—alongside orchestration between robots and manufacturing machines and the hardware abstraction layer connecting software to factory floor equipment. In this role, you will lead the technical direction of the Perception team within Autonomous Factory Systems. You will define the multi-year technical roadmap, shape the architecture, and drive work that expands what robots can sense, understand, and act on. This is a deeply hands-on position requiring sharp technical depth and experience driving alignment across teams working at the cutting edge of industrial robotics. Key responsibilities include: defining and driving the perception team's multi-year technical roadmap aligned with broader Autonomous Factory Systems strategy; leading architecture of the full perception pipeline (object detection and tracking, semantic and instance segmentation, 6-DoF pose estimation, scene understanding) designed for industrial reliability and throughput; defining integration surfaces between perception and adjacent systems (motion planning, manipulation, control, simulation); driving sensor fusion strategy across LiDAR, structured light, RGB, and depth cameras; establishing rigorous practices for data collection, labeling, model training, evaluation, deployment, and validation; raising the technical bar in hiring through role definition, technical interviews, and candidate assessment; representing perception in cross-functional design reviews; and continuously evaluating state-of-the-art research to inform production decisions. You should bring 10+ years of software engineering in computer vision, robotics perception, or autonomous systems with a track record of technical leadership at Staff or Principal level. Expert-level command of 3D computer vision (point cloud processing, depth estimation, stereo and structured light systems, multi-view geometry, LiDAR algorithms) is essential. Strong machine learning foundations with production deployment experience, familiarity with manufacturing or applied robotics environments, and experience building real-time perception systems under hard latency and reliability constraints are required. Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, proven ability to define architecture across domains and make high-stakes technical decisions, and meaningful contributions to technical hiring are expected.
