Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems and AI. The Maritime Division is building next-generation autonomous underwater vehicles and maritime platforms, including products like Dive-XL, Dive-LD, Copperhead, and Seabed Sentry, executing billion-dollar contracts while scaling Robot-as-a-Service operations.
As a Robotics Software Engineer, you will own end-to-end delivery of vehicle perception and planning capabilities integrated into autonomous maritime platforms. Your responsibilities span systems analysis, sensor selection and integration, perception architecture, motion planning, health management, behavior analysis, and simulation infrastructure.
Key responsibilities include: implementing safe navigation, collision avoidance, and situational awareness systems balancing multi-stakeholder constraints; building scalable subsystems for sensor processing, perception, tracking, motion planning, and anomaly detection; developing reusable software components across Anduril product lines; applying computer vision, sensor fusion, and machine learning to enhance vehicle capabilities; conducting thorough testing and validation through simulation and real-world experiments; collaborating with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, systems engineers); and traveling up to 20% to co-locate with end-users and teams.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent; proficiency in C++ and/or Python; familiarity with autonomous vehicle sensors (radar, sonar, LIDAR, cameras); demonstrated knowledge of computer vision, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning, or machine learning; senior-level experience delivering robotic systems; capacity to act as technical owner for systems including stakeholder engagement, requirements definition, roadmap management, design, implementation, and sustainment; ability to define and implement validation/verification strategies; mentoring capability for junior team members; and eligibility for U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred: experience with autonomous systems in ground, air, maritime, or space domains; simulation tools (Gazebo, Unity, Unreal Engine); knowledge of safety standards and certification for autonomous systems.
