Applied Intuition is a $15B-valued AI infrastructure company powering autonomy for defense, automotive, and industrial sectors. As a Robotic Software Engineer on the Drone Stack team, you will design and integrate complex autonomy and vehicle intelligence systems spanning hardware and software domains. You'll work on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), integrating autonomy algorithms into embedded Linux platforms, interfacing with sensors, and deploying solutions in simulation (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and live flight test environments. Key responsibilities include: adapting and developing modular autonomy capabilities for defense applications; integrating autonomy software onto embedded platforms with Pixhawk autopilots, datalinks, and GPS/INS systems; troubleshooting complex integration and software issues; supporting live flight tests on Group 1-5 UAVs; collaborating with 3rd-party UAS vendors on OEM hardware integration; conducting system-level testing and validation; and implementing service-oriented architecture software with inter-process messaging for autonomous systems. You'll work closely with autonomy engineers, DoD warfighter domain experts, and vehicle vendors to deliver robust, scalable solutions. The role requires hands-on robotics integration expertise, strong C++ programming skills, experience with communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, Ethernet), Docker containerization, Linux development, and git-based workflows. You must be a U.S. citizen eligible for security clearance and willing to travel 10-20% for on-site integration and customer demonstrations. Applied Intuition operates primarily in-office (5 days/week from the Fort Walton Beach office) with flexibility for occasional remote work. The company values cross-functional collaboration and customer-oriented delivery. Compensation includes base salary ($125k-$165k), equity, comprehensive health/dental/vision/life/disability insurance, 401k with employer match, learning stipends, and PTO.
