Machina Labs is building intelligent, software-defined factories that produce complex metal structures directly from digital design. The company integrates advanced metal forming, robotics, and automated production to enable customers to move from prototype to production in weeks instead of years. Backed by Lockheed Martin, Toyota, and NVIDIA, Machina Labs is creating manufacturing infrastructure for defense, aerospace, and advanced mobility programs.
As a Robotic Process Engineer, you will be central to enabling RoboForming, the company's robotic incremental sheet metal forming process. You'll work hands-on with the Robocraftsman system and internal software stack to convert digital part designs into robotic tool paths, optimize forming strategies, and support iterative process development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Generate and modify CAD models for RoboForming
- Convert CAD into robot tool paths using internal software
- Analyze RoboForming data and 3D scan results to assess part quality
- Design and execute structured experiments (DOE) to optimize forming parameters
- Collaborate with product managers, hardware teams, software engineers, and manufacturing engineers
- Engage in technical discussions with external customers
- Work autonomously with limited data and refine based on outcomes
- Document processes, results, and analyses for continuous improvement
You'll optimize manufacturing processes to form sheet metal parts and assemblies for aerospace applications, work directly with customers on feasibility analysis and DFM reports, and lead advancement of the technology across the aerospace industry.
