Checkout.com is building a new Operations Hub in Mexico City and seeking a Risk Monitoring Analyst to join the founding Risk Monitoring team. This role is central to protecting Checkout.com and its merchants by reviewing risk alerts, investigating unusual transaction activity, and making evidence-based recommendations focused on ISV (Independent Software Vendor) sellers. You will execute daily monitoring processes by reviewing assigned alerts in the ISV Daily Risk Report and case management tools, managing a consistent workload of investigations within agreed service levels, and following approved procedures and escalation routes. Your investigation work will involve analyzing transaction patterns, volumes, payouts, refunds, chargebacks, fraud activity, ACH returns, declines, and credit exposure. You'll review seller business models, websites, transaction activity, balances, reserves, and relevant history holistically to determine whether alerts are false positives, valid but requiring no immediate action, or genuine risks requiring mitigation. You'll identify potential merchant fraud, bust-out behavior, card testing, credit deterioration, scheme risk, or system-related issues. Decision-making and documentation are core responsibilities. You will recommend proportionate risk controls based on investigation and applicable approval matrices, escalate ambiguous or high-risk cases to Team Lead or Manager, record concise findings explaining what was reviewed and why decisions were taken, and ensure completed cases are correctly closed with stakeholder communication. Collaboration is essential. You'll share case summaries and recommendations with Risk, Financial Crime, Onboarding, Disputes, Account Management, and ISV Platform teams, contact ISV Platforms or sellers when additional information is needed, and work effectively with colleagues in Mexico and Mauritius to support consistent decisions and smooth handovers. As part of a founding team, you'll contribute to improving SOPs, templates, workflows, and team knowledge, identify recurring issues and process gaps, support a culture of ownership and accountability, and help establish operating standards for the Mexico City office. The role requires at least 1 year of hands-on experience in risk monitoring, fraud operations, transaction monitoring, AML/KYC, credit risk, disputes, payments operations, or similar analytical environments. You should demonstrate this experience with specific examples and bring strong analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while escalating appropriately.
