Aspire is a Series C fintech building a financial operating system for global founders, combining banking, software, and automation into a single platform. The company is backed by Y Combinator, Peak XV, and Lightspeed, and serves over 50,000 startups worldwide. As Risk and Analytics Manager, you will operate at the intersection of risk management and data analytics, overseeing risk for UK operations while driving risk analytics at group level. This is a foundational role in a fast-growing, FCA-regulated fintech where you will help build the risk function from the ground up and ensure Aspire UK and the broader group operate within risk appetite as the company scales. Key responsibilities include: - Oversee risk management for UK activities and lead risk analytics at group level - Report on financial, operational, compliance, and regulatory risks including key risk indicators (KRIs) to senior management, Risk Committees, and Boards - Analyze, quantify, and surface risk exposure across the UK business and Group - Collaborate with C-suite, product, and data teams to define and align on risk priorities - Develop detailed project plans to address core risks, including scope, timelines, budgets, and mitigation strategies - Manage project execution hands-on, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery - Own the UK risk register, ensuring active maintenance, escalation, and reporting to Risk Committee and Board - Liaise with Group Risk functions to ensure UK-specific risks are appropriately escalated within the Group framework - Support regulatory engagement, including FCA interactions on risk management - Own the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment process and ensure regulatory capital headroom against FCA thresholds - Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams (technology, product, compliance, risk, finance) - As a key initial project, set up the reconciliation framework for European markets, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and control effectiveness across European entities and partner banks You will work closely with Data, Compliance, Risk, and management teams in a collaborative environment. REQUIREMENTS: - Minimum 5 years of risk management experience in UK financial services - Direct experience in banking, payments, e-money, or fintech strongly preferred - Strong data management and analytical skills - Proficiency in Python, SQL, and relevant data tools - Ability to build a vision and action plan, then execute independently while rallying other leaders - Understanding of FCA regulatory expectations for EMIs, including SYSC, operational resilience, and outsourcing risk - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with ability to work effectively with senior leadership PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Fintech experience - Exposure to reconciliation processes across UK and European markets - Familiarity with finance, treasury, and/or data science models - Strong bias toward solving organizational challenges with genuine problem-solving orientation
