As RF Software Manager at Impulse, you will lead the engineering team responsible for spacecraft communication and GPS/GNSS receiver systems. You own the full lifecycle—from architecture and hardware bring-up through integration, qualification, launch, and mission operations—for RF and navigation systems deployed across low Earth orbit to deep-space missions. You provide both technical and people leadership to a team of embedded software, FPGA, and simulation engineers. You work closely with avionics, flight software, ground software, and guidance/navigation/control teams to ensure RF and GPS systems meet demanding performance, reliability, and mission-critical requirements. Key responsibilities include: leading and growing the RF software engineering team; owning architecture, development, integration, verification, and delivery of RF communication and GPS receiver software, simulation, and FPGA logic; driving development and testing of interfaces between RF hardware, GPS receivers, flight computers, spacecraft flight software, and ground systems; establishing software development, FPGA development, testing, code review, documentation, and release practices appropriate for flight-critical systems; directing and participating in design, code, and FPGA logic reviews to ensure implementations are maintainable, testable, and reliable; partnering with RF and avionics hardware teams during board bring-up, integration, troubleshooting, and qualification; developing team priorities, technical roadmaps, schedules, and staffing plans in coordination with program and engineering leadership; recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding engineers as the organization grows; identifying technical and programmatic risks early and driving resolution; and supporting spacecraft integration, environmental testing, ground-station testing, launch, commissioning, and mission operations. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field; 7+ years of demonstrated experience developing software for wireless systems in critical applications; 2+ years of demonstrated technical leadership, team leadership, or engineering management experience; demonstrated experience developing embedded software in C++; and strong understanding of RF communication systems, including modulation, demodulation, signal processing, calibration, and RF system control.
