Salary: USD 110,000 - 160,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies is seeking an RF Communications Engineer to join the Voyager Lunar Systems team in Pittsburgh, PA. This hybrid role reports to the Electronic Systems Manager and focuses on developing and maturing RF communications subsystems for space and lunar applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, simulate, test, and verify RF communications systems through their full lifecycle
- Establish and maintain requirements for RF communications subsystems with full traceability
- Perform link budget analysis for spacecraft operating in earth orbit, cislunar, and lunar regions
- Support critical design reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.) and ensure regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors on RF and communications hardware
- Assess risk, reliability, and system compatibility across subsystems
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Electrical Engineering with RF focus plus 3 years of communications systems development experience, OR Master's degree in the same fields with 1 year of experience
- Hands-on experience with RF lab equipment (spectrum analyzer, vector network analyzer, oscilloscopes)
- Strong knowledge of RF and communications fundamentals: transmission line theory, S-parameters, Fourier transforms, link budgets, digital/analog modulation, power spectral density, noise analysis
- Understanding of antenna theory, thermal/mass properties, and PCB design
Preferred qualifications include Python or MATLAB scripting, RF simulation tools (HFSS), Range Safety/Ground Safety compliance knowledge, and space environmental testing experience (TVAC, EMI/EMC).
