Fluidstack is building civilization-scale compute infrastructure for AI at unprecedented speed and scale. The Modular team is transforming data center construction by engineering, manufacturing, and shipping structural modules from a production line rather than stick-building in the field. As Resident Structural Engineer, you will own the structural systems of the modular data center product end-to-end: frames, enclosures, and lifting/transport structures from released drawings through rate production. This is a hands-on role requiring daily presence on the Phoenix manufacturing floor. Key responsibilities include: - Owning structural systems from design release through production ramp - Walking the manufacturing floor daily to catch fit-up and weld issues at source and disposition them immediately - Providing real-time structural engineering support: answering RFIs same-day and engineering fixes into the next revision - Running first-article reviews and fit checks as units come down the line, documenting findings tightly enough to drive drawing changes - Closing the feedback loop: translating floor learnings back into drawings, tolerances, and BOMs so issues never recur You bring hands-on experience engineering structures for complex physical products, modular construction, or heavy fabrication—not from a review desk. You've worked on shop floors or fabrication lines, making real-time nonconformance decisions (use-as-is, rework, stop) that are defensible. Your drawings build clean; fabricators rarely call, and when they do, you fix the drawing. You've supported production launches of your own designs through the early, messy units and iterated fast without losing configuration control. Bonus qualifications: PE license, steel and sheet metal design, AISC/AWS detailing standards, weld inspection/NDE familiarity, and DFM instincts. Fluidstack operates on extreme ownership, full autonomy, velocity, first-principles thinking, and deep engagement with frontier AI infrastructure challenges. This role demands long hours at high intensity to push the frontier forward.
