Figma's Research team is hiring an experienced researcher for the Rapid Research program. This role is designed for product-focused researchers who work closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to clarify problems, test ideas, and recommend product changes—typically within one- to two-week research sprints. You will rotate across different product areas at Figma, ramping up quickly on new challenges and building relationships across teams. The role suits someone energized by unfamiliar products and ambiguous problems, who takes initiative rather than waiting for fully scoped briefs. You'll combine strong opinions about great user experiences with grounded research into actual user needs, spot connections across product areas, and blend deep qualitative and quantitative research expertise with a flexible, resourceful approach to moving quickly without sacrificing rigor. Key responsibilities include: - Scoping and running focused research in quick sprints using sound methods to answer questions most likely to change product decisions - Turning findings into specific, actionable recommendations for designers and PMs, working through tradeoffs and helping teams implement them - Presenting product recommendations to cross-functional teams and senior leadership, telling the story behind the data rather than just reporting insights - Rotating across product areas and teams, building credibility and relationships quickly without long-term embedding - Contributing beyond formal studies by using Figma's products, joining design reviews, and helping teams recognize when they have sufficient information to act - Bringing clarity to ambiguous problems, challenging assumptions, and adjusting scope or approach as you learn - Experimenting with tools, templates, and workflows to make research faster and sharper You'll have strong product judgment with concrete examples of recommendations you've made that shaped products, backed by excellent communication and storytelling skills with a track record of securing executive buy-in. You're scrappy and flexible, adapting to changing priorities and tight timelines while maintaining sound research methods, including active use of AI tools to improve speed, quality, or scale. Requirements: - 7+ years of experience in research at high-growth product organizations, UX/design agencies, or strategic consultancies focused on digital experiences - Proficiency in mixed methods research, including qualitative approaches (interviews) and quantitative approaches (surveys, data analysis) - Strong product judgment with examples of specific recommendations you made and how they shaped the product, backed by strong communication and storytelling skills with a track record of securing executive buy-in - Experience ramping up quickly on new projects and delivering clear recommendations in one- to two-week research sprints, turning ambiguous problems into clear questions and a practical path forward - A scrappy, flexible approach, adapting to changing priorities and tight timelines while maintaining sound research methods, including active use of AI tools to improve speed, quality, or scale Desirable (not required): - Proficiency in designing and prototyping, ideally within the Figma suite of tools - Familiarity with researching design tools, developer tools, creative software, or other products people use to build things - Background in product design, product management, or engineering - Ability to combine product analytics with qualitative research to inform recommendations
