Altos Labs, a top-ranked biotech company focused on cell rejuvenation to reverse disease and injury, is seeking a Research Specialist or Scientist to join the In Vivo Translational Sciences (IVTS) team within the Institute of Medicine. This role is central to generating decisional data through the design and execution of ex vivo assays that characterize biomarkers and evaluate therapeutic targets.
You will work collaboratively with IVTS researchers and cross-functional teams including Discovery Sciences, in vitro Pharmacology, and Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics to support therapeutic program development. The position requires approximately 80% hands-on benchtop science, with responsibilities including executing ex vivo assays on diverse tissues from in vivo studies, performing analyses, and reporting results with meticulous documentation in electronic lab notebooks.
Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing assays for tissue processing, biomarker discovery, and target engagement studies; implementing new technologies and platforms to enhance study efficiency and quality; troubleshooting assays to support diverse therapeutic modalities (small molecules, biologics, gene therapies); and maintaining rigorous data integrity and reproducibility standards. You will coordinate with in vivo operations teams and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree with 8+ years of industry experience (Research Specialist track), or PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field with 4+ years relevant industry experience (Scientist track). Extensive hands-on experience required with biochemical and biophysical assays including enzymatic assays, ELISAs, MSD, AlphaLISA, Western Blots, qPCR, and ddPCR. Demonstrated expertise in tissue processing methods, nucleic acid and protein quantification, and QC. Strong scientific productivity, independent experimental design, and clear communication skills essential. Preferred: strong conceptual grounding in pharmacological characterization and experience with target engagement studies across diverse matrices.
