Iambic Therapeutics, a clinical-stage AI-driven drug discovery company founded in 2020, is seeking a Research Scientist to join its bioanalytical sciences and assay development team in San Diego. This role focuses on developing and implementing mass spectrometry-based assays and bioanalytical workflows that support hit identification (HitID), ADME/DMPK characterization, and physicochemical property assessment for small-molecule drug discovery.
Key responsibilities include designing and optimizing LC-MS/MS bioanalytical methods, developing fit-for-purpose assays for screening and compound characterization, and creating in vitro ADME/DMPK assays covering metabolic stability, permeability, and protein binding. The scientist will also develop physicochemical property assays (solubility, logD, ePSA) and work on automating and scaling assay workflows to improve capacity and data quality. A critical aspect of the role is generating high-quality experimental datasets that inform AI/ML-driven compound design and supporting rapid design–make–test–learn cycles.
The position requires troubleshooting MS instrumentation and laboratory automation, evaluating emerging assay technologies and methodologies, and collaborating cross-functionally with biology, screening, medicinal chemistry, DMPK, and computational teams. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in bioanalytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, chemical biology, drug metabolism/pharmacokinetics, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field with 0–5 years of relevant experience, or an M.S. with significant industry experience. Strong hands-on LC-MS/MS experience, quantitative assay design expertise, and familiarity with SCIEX, Agilent, or Thermo platforms are highly valued. Experience with MS-based screening approaches (ASMS), in vitro ADME/DMPK assays, laboratory automation, and high-throughput screening is preferred.
