Mistral is seeking a Research Platform Engineer to join their Research Platform team in London, Paris, or Warsaw (hybrid, with option for remote EU/UK with monthly office visits). You'll work closely with R&D to build a cloud-agnostic platform that improves stability, scalability, and velocity across the research department, empowering researchers to leverage high-performance clusters effectively. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing complex systems—particularly scaling research CI with focus on reliability, reproducibility, and speed; building flexible, accessible development environments for researchers; designing maintainable data pipelines for large datasets; optimizing container images, library compilation times, and Python environments; and fostering strong relationships with researchers to understand workflows and enable them to achieve more through your platform expertise. You'll also communicate technical solutions through documentation and content, helping researchers maximize the tools and systems you build, while continuously "platformizing" research and improving the daily experience for the team. Required: 5+ years in DX/DevOps/SRE roles; proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages with strong programming practices; exposure to SRE (root cause analysis, troubleshooting, on-call); infrastructure management experience (CI/CD, containerization, orchestration, IaC, monitoring, logging, alerting, observability); technical product mindset; excellent problem-solving and communication; ownership and high agency; autonomous, self-driven approach in fast-paced startup environments; low ego and strong team spirit. Desirable: Bazel or equivalent experience; deep Python ecosystem knowledge; familiarity with GPU workloads; experience in fully remote environments.
