Phinity is an AI research lab focused on autonomous chip design. The company is building reinforcement learning environments, agent infrastructure, and evaluation systems to enable AI agents to tape-out chips autonomously, from architecture through post-silicon validation. The founding team includes leaders and executives from top chip companies, researchers who post-trained chip-design models at NVIDIA, AI for formal verification experts, and engineers with over 10 years of experience building chips at NVIDIA, Intel, and MediaTek.
As a Research Engineer, you will develop data and experimental environments to train and evaluate AI agents on real-world hardware engineering tasks. Your responsibilities include:
- Building and scaling novel, experimental environments for testing agents in hardware engineering contexts
- Profiling and benchmarking unreleased AI models
- Running experiments and investigating research problems at the intersection of hardware engineering and reinforcement learning
- Taking high ownership of projects with direct impact on frontier AI capabilities
You will work directly with AI researchers and hardware experts, collaborating on technologies that reimagine ASIC design. This is a high-leverage role with significant autonomy to shape new research directions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior low-level systems and/or VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) experience required
- Strong research intuitions combined with rigorous engineering skills
- Leadership skills and high ownership mindset
- ML/RL background is a plus
- Operational experience is a plus
