In this role, you will perform both automated and manual high-throughput processing, including DNA preparation, protein expression, and protein characterization. You'll contribute to scaling BigHat's platform and generating production-grade data, while supporting the Platform Reagents & Assay Support (PRAS) function through in-house reagent manufacturing efforts. Key responsibilities include executing experiments to optimize platform performance efficiency, maintaining detailed experimental records using BigHat's documentation tools, and clearly communicating results and challenges to the team. You will collaborate on creating and refining laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample processing, and work closely with team members to identify, design, and implement critical process and operational improvements to production workflows and laboratory systems. You'll operate automated liquid handlers and analytical instruments to ensure efficient lab and platform operations. Required qualifications include a BS in Biology or Chemistry with 2+ years of industry experience. Hands-on experience with automated liquid handlers (Hamilton, OpenTrons, Tecan, Agilent systems) is essential, and LIMS experience is a nice-to-have. Strong molecular biology techniques knowledge and general lab practices are required. You must be able to work flexible workday schedules (e.g., 7AM–3PM or 10AM–6PM) as needed. Excellent time management, ability to juggle multiple projects in a dynamic startup environment, strong interpersonal skills, and meticulous record-keeping abilities are essential. Nice-to-haves include experience with barcoding systems, inventory tracking, and Google Workspace tools.
