BigHat Biosciences is seeking a Research Associate I to support the manufacturing, validation, and development of cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS) reagents for the company's high-throughput, automated antibody production and characterization platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manufacture and validate CFPS reagents including buffer preparation, biomass media production, and quality control experiments
- Maintain CFPS reagent manufacturing equipment (incubators, centrifuges, homogenizers)
- Coordinate with lab operations to manage supplies and ensure reliable stock for the platform
- Design and execute experiments to develop next-generation CFPS extracts, optimizing yield and purity for antibody production
- Maintain detailed experimental records using company documentation systems
- Communicate results, challenges, and experimental plans to manager and science teams
Required qualifications:
- B.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field
- 1-2 years of industry experience
- Experience with recombinant protein expression from bacterial cultures
- Proficiency in molecular cloning techniques (primer design, PCR, mutagenesis, Golden Gate Assembly)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in small teams
Preferred qualifications:
- Cell-free protein synthesis (CFPS) experience
- Protein purification methods (affinity chromatography, size-exclusion chromatography)
- Quantitative/statistical analysis software (Excel, GraphPad Prism, Python, R)
- Experience with automation, high-throughput tools, and robotic instrumentation
