Salary: USD 81,000 - 95,000 / annual
AltPep Corporation is a biomedical company developing detection tools and disease-modifying treatments for amyloid diseases, with lead programs targeting Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. The company originated from Dr. Valerie Daggett's lab at the University of Washington and is headquartered on the Eastside of Lake Union in Seattle.
As a Research Associate, you will conduct hands-on bench work across diagnostic and therapeutic programs, running experiments from sample preparation through analysis and interpretation. You will support work in both chemistry and cell-based studies, applying strong fundamental bench techniques including liquid handling, solution preparation, quantitative dilutions, tissue handling, and cell-based assays.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, molecular biology, or related field, plus substantial hands-on wet lab experience in a research or biotech environment. You must demonstrate strong bench techniques, meticulous record-keeping, ability to conduct quantitative analyses, and apply quality control criteria effectively. The ideal candidate is adaptable, willing to learn novel approaches and techniques, and can contribute across multiple project areas while maintaining high standards.
Preferred qualifications include 2+ years of post-graduate laboratory experience (biotech industry experience is a plus), multiple years in academic research labs, experience with peptide and protein handling/characterization/purification, experience preparing standards and controls for quantitative analysis, diagnostics or regulated laboratory environment experience, and involvement in method development and optimization. Additional strengths include cell culture or tissue handling experience, synthetic or organic chemistry background, and knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
