Mistral is seeking a Research Engineer, Full Stack to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and practical product implementation. You will collaborate closely with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on complex customer projects, integrating frontier AI models into enterprise software systems across high-stakes industries including finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector.
In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable full-stack applications that seamlessly integrate front-end and back-end systems. You'll work on complex use cases with internal stakeholders, providing technical guidance and ensuring optimal production integration across the entire stack. Your work will directly influence how Mistral's AI solutions are adopted and deployed by enterprise customers.
You'll partner with product and science teams to continuously improve model capabilities and product offerings based on real-world feedback and technical learnings. This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong technical depth across the full stack—from React/NextJS front-end frameworks to NodeJS back-end technologies, with Python as a core language.
The ideal candidate has 2+ years as a technical individual contributor working on cutting-edge technologies, with demonstrated expertise in both front-end and back-end development. You should have a solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals including design patterns, data structures, and algorithms. Experience with LLM/GenAI models, open-source contributions, or prior roles as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager is highly valued. Strong communication skills—the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences—are essential.
