The Renewables & Procurement Manager role covers energy budgeting, renewable sourcing, and supply procurement for a portfolio of multinational clients across European markets. This is a hands-on position where budgeting and cost forecasting form the backbone of the work—tenders, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and renewable energy certificate (REC) work all feed into budgets you own and defend directly with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build electricity and gas budgets bottom-up across multiple countries, including commodity costs, hedges, non-commodity costs, network tariffs, taxes, and levies
- Re-forecast during the year and explain variances against budget and prior-year actuals
- Run scenario analyses (price spikes, volume changes, new regulated costs) and quantify options before clients commit to hedging strategies
- Source and manage renewables: PPAs, Guarantees of Origin (GOs), Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs), green tariffs, and biomethane
- Price new renewable offers, model long-term costs, and manage existing deals—tracking volumes, cancellations, site allocation, and reporting
- Lead multi-country tenders from initial supplier engagement through negotiation and award
- Maintain contract performance: manage site lists, verify pricing, handle renewals, and report on exposure and savings
- Monitor European and UK power and gas markets daily; advise clients on implications for their positions and budgets
Requirements:
- 3+ years in energy procurement, budgeting, or portfolio management in European markets
- Solid grasp of European energy commodity markets: pricing mechanisms, market drivers, and impact on client bills
- Deep knowledge of non-commodity costs, network tariffs, taxes, levies, and how they build into total delivered cost
- Proven experience owning a budget (not just reporting): building models, setting assumptions, and accounting for variances
- Experience with PPAs and Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs); green tariffs and biomethane experience is a plus
- Advanced Excel proficiency; Power BI, Python, or R is a bonus
- Confident, critical use of LLMs in daily work—knowing where they add value and where they may introduce errors
- Fluent English plus at least one other European language; a third language is a plus
- Degree in economics, finance, engineering, energy management, or related field
- Willingness to travel for client meetings and team gatherings (a couple per year)
