Valarian Technologies is a dual-use technology company building secure enclave platforms (Acra) for critical infrastructure protection in defense, government, and regulated enterprise environments. As a Release Engineer, you will own the complete delivery pipeline and release lifecycle for Acra, ensuring reliable, predictable, and secure deployment across cloud-native, on-premise, and air-gapped environments.
Key responsibilities include: architecting and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and release engineering tooling for the Acra platform stack across multiple environments; designing reproducible, self-contained release artifacts (Helm charts, container images, binary bundles) for air-gapped and offline deployment scenarios; implementing cryptographic signing (Sigstore/Cosign), SBOM generation, and automated vulnerability gating across all build pipelines; maintaining release-side Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps delivery frameworks (ArgoCD, Flux, Terraform); partnering with platform, security, and application engineering teams to standardize versioning and branching strategies; and ensuring every release produces immutable audit trails and compliance evidence artifacts.
Required qualifications: 4+ years in Release Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE with focus on secure software delivery; deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Helm, container registries, and cloud-native infrastructure automation; demonstrated experience packaging and releasing software for complex, non-SaaS environments (on-premise, edge, air-gapped); solid understanding of build integrity, artifact signing, provenance tracking, and SBOM standards; proven experience designing enterprise CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Tekton, ArgoCD) with testing, canary/blue-green strategies, and rollback mechanisms; proficiency in Go, Python, Bash, or Rust for custom release automation tools.
Nice-to-have: prior experience in dual-use, defense, government, or regulated enterprise environments; SC or DV clearance eligibility in the UK; experience with cryptographic key management (Vault, KMS) and code-signing infrastructure; familiarity with zero-trust networking and Kubernetes security operators (Cilium, Istio, Kyverno, SPIRE).
