Toku is seeking a business-minded attorney to lead the regulatory compliance strategy across its fintech operations. This is a leadership role that goes beyond legal interpretation—you will partner closely with Product and Operations teams to enable sustainable growth in a dynamic regulatory environment across Chile, Mexico, and Brazil.
You will design, implement, and lead Toku's compliance program with a focus on regulated entities. You will serve as the primary point of contact with regulators (CMF and UAF in Chile, CNBV and Banxico in Mexico, Banco Central do Brasil) and translate regulatory requirements into concrete product, process, and business decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, implement, and maintain compliance programs for regulated entities, including policies, procedures, manuals, controls, and regulatory risk matrices
- Manage regulator relationships, coordinate periodic reports, handle audit requests, and oversee remediation plans
- Lead licensing and registration processes for current and new entities, with particular focus on Brazil expansion challenges
- Partner with Product and Business teams from the initial design phase of new products and services, identifying regulatory risks and proposing compliant alternatives
- Lead anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) prevention, including KYC/KYB processes, transaction monitoring, alert management, and suspicious activity reporting
- Monitor regulatory evolution across three markets (e.g., Fintech Law, payments regulation, Open Finance) and coordinate action plans
- Coordinate internal and external audits, track findings and remediation, and foster a compliance culture through training and team support
- Manage external legal advisors and consultants across jurisdictions
Requirements:
- Law degree (abogado/a titulado/a)
- Minimum 3 years of compliance experience, ideally in fintech or regulated financial services
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or managing compliance programs
- Business mindset with ability to work cross-functionally with Product, Operations, and other teams to find practical solutions to regulatory challenges
- Strong ability to communicate legal and regulatory topics clearly, translating them into actionable recommendations for non-legal teams
- High autonomy, proactivity, and ownership mentality
- Advanced English proficiency
- Regional experience or experience working with teams in other countries (ideally Mexico and/or Brazil)
