8Fleet is a Los Angeles-based technology and logistics company building operational infrastructure for modern rideshare fleets (autonomous and non-autonomous). The company operates in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta, and Miami.
The Regional General Manager, West will own 8Fleet's operations and growth across the West region, based at the Los Angeles HQ. This is a dual-level role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. You will operate at the regional level (strategy, market prioritization, resourcing) while also diving into individual market P&Ls, driver-supply challenges, and operational details when needed.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading and developing a team of Market Managers across the region; setting goals, coaching performance, and building organizational bench strength
• Owning regional performance end-to-end, from daily operations through P&L accountability
• Supporting new market launches in the West as the region expands, from pre-launch planning through steady-state operations
• Partnering with other Regional General Managers to share best practices and align on cross-regional priorities
• Serving as the primary point of contact between the region and 8Fleet's founders and executive team
• Overseeing regional fleet operations, including driver scheduling, dispatch, and performance monitoring
• Ensuring vehicle maintenance and repair programs support optimal fleet utilization and safety
• Analyzing regional and market-level performance data to identify profitability and efficiency improvements
• Developing and implementing cost-effective strategies to maximize regional fleet profitability
• Setting, monitoring, and reporting on regional KPIs; holding Market Managers accountable to targets
• Building and scaling the Market Manager function through hiring, onboarding, and training
• Fostering a positive, high-performance culture across all West markets
• Establishing regional best practices for driver support, training, and customer service standards
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards across every market, including California state and local requirements
• Overseeing regular safety audits and implementing corrective actions
The ideal candidate has scaled operations in fast-moving, multi-market environments (rideshare, delivery, or similar marketplace/logistics businesses), has directly managed managers, and brings a founder's mindset to ambiguity. Prior experience at Uber, Lyft, or comparable rideshare/mobility platforms is a strong plus.
You are driven, endlessly curious, and passionate about finding creative solutions to challenges. You know how to build that same instinct in the managers you lead.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 6+ years of operations management, business consulting, or related experience managing multi-site or multi-market operations
• 4+ years of experience managing managers (not just individual contributors), with a track record of hiring and developing strong operators
• Goal focus with a strong bias toward action and comfort operating with ambiguity
• Entrepreneurial hustle and proven self-starter with an owner's mentality; experience scaling established markets and launching new ones strongly preferred
• Data-driven mindset, strong business judgment, and proven ability to perform analysis, draw key insights, and form and execute strategy at a regional level
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships, manage a distributed team, influence founders/executives, and inspire others
• Excellent organization and time management; comfortable managing multiple markets and priorities simultaneously
• Willingness to travel regularly between Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego
• MBA or advanced degree is a strong plus
• Experience with ridesharing platforms (Uber, Lyft) is a strong plus
