Mirum Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company focused on rare disease treatment, is seeking a Regional Account Manager (RAM) for the Gateway territory covering Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Eastern Missouri. This is a field-based leadership role reporting to the Area Business Director, West.
The RAM will operate as an entrepreneurial business owner within their assigned region, responsible for developing and executing regional strategy targeting Geneticists, Endocrinologists, and Metabolic Specialists. Key responsibilities include formulating short- and long-term business tactics, identifying regional priorities, creating and implementing compliant business plans, improving diagnosis rates for on-label indications, driving sales growth, and partnering cross-functionally across Marketing, Market Access, Medical, Operations, and Compliance.
The role demands the ability to communicate complex scientific information effectively, demonstrate strong business acumen, manage relationships at all organizational levels, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The successful candidate will exhibit detail orientation, self-structure, proven presentation and partner management skills, and a patient-centric, teamwork-oriented approach. Frequent travel (up to 70% overnight) across the multi-state territory is required.
The preferred candidate location is the Chicagoland area, though the right candidate from elsewhere will be considered.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 5+ years pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, including 3+ years field-based experience in account management, sales, and/or field reimbursement
- Experience in specialty, genetics, or rare disease markets strongly preferred
- Proven success in product launches, ideally with first-in-class therapies in competitive markets
- Experience navigating complex rare disease patient journeys, including diagnosis, referral pathways, and access challenges
- Experience working in ambiguous environments requiring cross-specialty coordination for patient identification
- Experience managing large multi-state geography preferred
- Ability to travel frequently (up to 70% overnight) and maintain valid driver's license
