Salary: USD 47,150 - 76,705 / annual
Johnson & Johnson's Shockwave Medical division is seeking an R&D Technician II to support the development of innovative medical devices for treating cardiovascular disease. The role focuses on Intravascular Lithotripsy (IVL) technology, which uses sonic pressure waves to treat calcified plaque in peripheral, coronary, and heart valve diseases.
You will work on cross-functional development teams managing projects from concept through commercialization. Primary responsibilities include generating functional prototypes from design concepts, supporting product builds through all R&D phases, performing assembly and fabrication of disposable devices, and executing testing to validate designs and processes. You'll collaborate directly with R&D engineers and other technicians to troubleshoot procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and provide feedback on assembly processes. Additional duties include preparing test samples for routine and qualification testing, supporting equipment validation, and identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
The work environment is fast-paced with multiple priorities, requiring comfort in clean room settings and the ability to perform detailed work under a microscope. You may be required to lift objects up to 25 lbs.
Requirements:
- High school diploma with 2+ years of technician experience, OR 3+ years of other relevant hands-on medical device experience
- Ability to perform work under a microscope
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities
- Comfortable in clean room environments
- Effective communication skills and MS Office proficiency
- Experience with test method execution is a plus
- Experience with balloon catheter, hydrophilic coating, or other cardiovascular medical device development is preferred
