Payoneer, a NASDAQ-listed global financial platform founded in 2005, is seeking a Backend Team Lead to join its R&D organization in Gurugram. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management in a complex payment solutions environment.
You will lead an autonomous team of software engineers building customer-facing backend systems while maintaining 50% hands-on involvement in design and development. Key responsibilities include collaborating with Product, Design/UX, and DevOps teams; overseeing technical architecture, code quality, and production deployments; and developing your team members through mentorship and technical guidance.
The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of server-side development experience using C# or OOP languages, with expertise in REST APIs, asynchronous communication (RabbitMQ, Kafka), and SQL databases. You should have 3+ years of SQL experience, 2+ years with observability tools (Dynatrace, Grafana), and critically, 1+ years of proven managerial experience leading development teams on customer-facing products. Additional strengths include hands-on experience with microservices architecture, multi-agent systems at scale, messaging queues, design patterns, and engineering best practices (unit testing, code reviews, agile methodologies).
