Payoneer, founded in 2005, is a global financial platform serving over 2,500 colleagues and customers in 190+ countries. The company simplifies cross-border business by removing friction from financial workflows—payments, compliance, multi-currency management, workforce solutions, working capital, and business intelligence. As R&D Architect Director, you will drive architectural innovation and lead R&D teams to extend product capacity, scalability, and effectiveness across server and client-side systems. Your responsibilities include: • Architecting and implementing new technologies and frameworks that enhance team capacity and product scalability • Leading all key technology and methodological aspects of development and testing • Driving key product enhancements aligned with product management and stakeholder requirements, selecting solutions optimized for functionality, reliability, testability, and scalability • Translating business needs and operational flows into robust technology solutions • Mentoring and leading R&D teams through design reviews, coding standards, and architectural guidance • Spearheading AI adoption across R&D—both as a development accelerator (coding tools, agents, MCPs) and as an embedded product capability You bring 10+ years of software development experience with at least 2 years as an architect. You have deep expertise in system engineering, scalability, redundancy, and performance optimization. You've built high-capacity, high-reliability products across multiple languages and environments, with hands-on experience in SQL Server, microservices, event-driven architecture, SAGA patterns, and error tolerance/zero-data-loss concepts. You have proven experience architecting and operating production workloads at scale on AWS, Azure, or GCP. Critically, you have hands-on experience architecting AI-enabled systems—LLM integration patterns, RAG, agentic workflows, evaluations, and production AI concerns (latency, cost, fallback, hallucination control). You are AI-fluent with daily hands-on use of AI coding tools, capable of configuring tools beyond basic prompting, and building workflows and skills. You understand business needs deeply and convert them into effective products. You adapt readily to new technologies, stay current with industry trends, and bring a proactive, team-oriented mindset. Financial services background and experience with big-data/NoSQL technologies are advantageous.
