Salary: USD 120,000 - 145,000 / annual

Astranis is seeking a Radiation Test Engineer to join its spacecraft electronics team in San Francisco. You will be responsible for analyzing, testing, and validating candidate electronics for spacecraft operating in high-radiation environments (GTO and GEO orbits). This is a hands-on role combining design, simulation, and experimental validation. Key responsibilities include: - Support the design of fault-tolerant electrical systems for radiation environments - Simulate and model GTO and GEO radiation environments on PCBA designs - Coordinate and execute radiation testing campaigns to upscreen components - Develop fault-tolerant systems and operations into spacecraft by collaborating with cross-functional teams - Support electrical design, bringup, and test activities - Assist in recruiting and hiring for the growing team Required qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent technical field - Hands-on experience with electrical design - Demonstrated experience designing and testing for radiation effects - Experience testing analog and digital circuits - Experience with fault-tolerant, high-reliability systems - US Citizenship or Green Card (required for defense work) - Passion for hardware development in fast-paced environments Bonus experience includes: - Prior work on space or high-radiation environment electrical designs - Familiarity with geostationary radiation effects (TID, SEE, DDD) - Experience running tests at radiation labs - Dosimeter circuit design - ECAD and MCAD tools (Altium, Solidworks) Astranis designs, builds, and operates advanced satellites for high orbits, serving large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military.
