Salary: USD 120,000 - 145,000 / annual

Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated secure networks to large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and a backlog exceeding $1 billion in commercial contracts, the company is expanding rapidly. As a Radiation Effects Engineer, you will drive the electrical survivability of spacecraft by analyzing, designing, and testing robust electronic systems optimized for harsh aerospace environments. This hands-on role combines circuit design, component validation, and radiation mitigation expertise. Key responsibilities include: - Supporting electrical architecture and design of fault-tolerant systems for radiation environments - Participating in electrical design, schematic capture, PCB layout reviews, hardware bring-up, and laboratory testing - Coordinating and executing electrical radiation testing campaigns to upscreen COTS and automotive-grade components - Developing fault-tolerant systems and operations into spacecraft in collaboration with cross-functional teams - Assisting in recruiting and hiring additional team members Required qualifications: - Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Nuclear Engineering with electronics focus - Hands-on experience in electrical circuit design, prototyping, and troubleshooting in fast-paced environments - Strong foundation in electrical design principles including component selection, power distribution, and signal integrity - Direct experience analyzing, designing, and testing electronic circuits for radiation effects - Experience testing and debugging complex analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits using standard lab equipment - Experience engineering fault-tolerant, high-reliability electrical hardware architectures - US Citizenship or Green Card required (space technology export compliance) Bonus qualifications include experience with space or high-radiation environments, semiconductor physics, radiation test facility configuration, and ECAD tools (Altium Designer) or MCAD (Solidworks).
